Jouette Graham Memorial Art League of Marion
College Scholarship

The Art League of Marion is very pleased to be in a position to offer scholarship(s) to deserving students in Smyth County pursuing a college degree in the arts; visual, performing, or art education at an accredited college or university.  The scholarship(s) is funded by proceeds from the Hungry Mother Festival and community support.

The scholarship has been named the Jouette Graham Memorial Art League of Marion College Scholarship.  Sadly, Mrs. Graham passed away on January 13, 2021. She lived John Wesley’s aspiration to “do all the good you can for as many as you can for as long as you can.” Mrs. Graham helped establish the Art League of Marion and the Hungry Mother Arts and Crafts Festival.  She always looked forward to the festival and attended each year, even when she was in poor health. We celebrate Mrs. Graham’s many years of support and honor her memory by encouraging our area youth to pursue a career in the arts.

The Art League of Marion sponsors an annual competition and art show which celebrates the artistic talents of Smyth County high school students. Chilhowie High School, Marion Senior High School, and Northwood High School students are invited to submit entries using a medium of their choice. The award winning entries are displayed each spring at Smyth County Public Library: Marion Branch.
